The General Counsel Function 

ComReg wishes to recruit a Senior Legal Administrator on a full-time permanent basis to support the General Counsel team. This team provides expert, solution-focused legal advice on a range of regulatory, competition, and consumer issues within ComReg’s remit and is responsible for fulfilling the legal requirements of the Commission. The team forms part of ComReg’s broader legal team. The successful candidate will support the General Counsel team in administrative and organisational issues arising in the team’s functional area. The Senior Legal Administrator will work within a multi-disciplinary environment, which includes business analysts, industry experts, engineers, accountants, economists and other lawyers.

 

The Role and Responsibilities

This role is for a Senior Legal Administrator who has the skills and experience to manage and support legislative and governance processes, and administer procurement and budgetary systems.

Reporting to the Head of Legal in the General Counsel’s functional area the Senior Legal Administrator will support ComReg in complying with its statutory obligations and mandate, by means of the following:

  • Managing and maintaining administrative records and schedules in relation to the statutory activities of the Commission
  • Tracking legislative developments and acting as administrative coordinator in the promulgation of secondary legislation / managing associated internal communications
  • Managing requests received under the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and the Access to Information on the Environment Regulations 2007 – 2018, and ensuring delivery in accordance with statutory obligations and time frames
  • Managing procurement processes for the Legal Team, including issuing and tracking contracts issued to vendors
  • Scheduling regular budgetary overview meetings and supporting internal stakeholders in maintaining oversight of legal spend
  • Organising CPD talks and events for the Legal Team, maintaining appropriate records

 

Qualifications and Experience required 

Essential 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a legal administrator or paralegal
  • Proficiency in legal research tools, database and contract management
  • Proven ability to deliver projects with all necessary administrative skills e.g. MS Teams, Word, Excel

 

Desirable 

  • Experience in a regulatory/public sector environment or as part of an inhouse legal team
  • Qualification as paralegal or relevant degree
  • Experience of promulgation of legislation
  • Experience of procurement processes
