In July 2010, the Communications Regulation (Premium Rate Services and Electronic Communications Infrastructure) Act, 2010 (“the Act of 2010”) came into force. This legislation requires ComReg to regulate the premium rate service (“PRS”) industry in Ireland.
The Act of 2010 also requires that all parties who are involved in the provision of a PRS, and who receive a revenue share from each PRS interaction, must be licensed for every service that they are operating. This includes all network operators, aggregator providers and content providers.
