During the third quarter of 2024 (July to September), ComReg had a range of news for consumers that included some of the following topics:
We informed consumers about
- using your mobile phone abroad;
- your entitlement to an End of Contract Notice and Best Tariff Advice;
- your entitlement to a Contract Summary;
- how to switch phone or broadband service;
- how to deal with an unexpected call or text charge on your phone bill;
- getting a new broadband connection.
We advised consumers
- to visit our stand at The 50 Plus Show in Cork;
- that Blueface Ltd is ceasing to provide business telephone services on 22 October.
In terms of research and reports we
- published Q2 Consumer Care Statistics with details of issues raised by consumers who contacted ComReg’s Consumer Care team from April to June 2024;
- published the Irish Text Relay Service usage report for the period January to June 2024.
Our compliance work resulted in
- IFA Telecom paying a €7,500 penalty;
- Prepay Power refunding over €270,000 and paying a penalty;
- SLA Digital refunding over €8,000 to customers.
