ComReg Conference 2019 took place on Friday, 6 September 2019 in Dublin with the #ComReg19 trending on Twitter. It was a unique opportunity to review the Irish telecoms landscape and its future development and the agenda included:
- Consumer protection in the digital era
- Safeguarding innovation in the Digital Society
An interesting and insightful panel discussion took place around the benefits of the digital era and how much value it brings to consumers while also generating more need for consumer protection. Privacy and ethics were identified as key issues and the role of regulators and the tools they have at their disposal, the responsibility of leaders in digital platforms setting the right ethical tone to deliver appropriate digital services and the importance of safeguarding consumers from abuse while online were among topics of discussion.
