How do I know what positions are available at Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg)?

We advertise on a number of platforms and all of our roles can be found on the ComReg website under the ‘Careers’ section. You will find the job description, details of how to apply and all relevant logistics.

How do I apply for a position with ComReg?

 If you are interested in one of our roles and have the skills and experience necessary, please follow the instructions on how to apply on the relevant roles page.

Can I apply for multiple roles?

If you have the skills and experience necessary for a number of roles we would welcome multiple applications.

Please bear in mind that each vacancy requires a separate application.

How will I know if my application has been received?

You will receive an automated response confirming receipt of your application.

How will I know if I have been shortlisted?

After the position closes, applications will be reviewed against the criteria for the role and a shortlist will be compiled. If you are on the shortlist, you will be invited to interview. If not, we will let you know. If you are not shortlisted please don’t lose heart, there may be other ComReg roles in the future which better suit your qualifications, skills and experience so keep an eye on our careers page.

Sometimes our processes can take a little longer than usual so please bear with us.

Where will interviews take place?

Our interviews take place virtually and face to face in our ComReg offices located at One Dockland Central, Guild St, Dublin 1. If interviews are scheduled at any other location, we will let you know in advance of your interview.

I have additional access needs, how should I let you know?

If you have additional needs and are invited for interview please email EDI@ComReg.ie to let us know.

How many rounds of interviews will there be?

It depends on the role. For many of our roles, we call the top scoring candidates to second round interview.

In some cases, our interviews include presentations or tasks to examine drafting expertise. You will be notified of dates and requirements well in advance of any interviews and kept informed throughout the process.

Where can I find details of remuneration for the role?

You can find the salary on the bottom of the job specification. If you are a current member of the public service on a higher salary you may be entitled to transfer above the entry point to the band and zone.

What type of interview will I be called for?

Our interview process can consist of your background/previous experience interviews, shortlisting tasks and presentations. Interviews are largely competency based. View our competency framework. This framework was put together following consultation with employees and contains common behaviours required by those working in ComReg. You should look at the competencies set out on the vacancy notice and examine the behaviours associated with those competencies in the framework. We will be looking for demonstrations of some of these behaviours at interview.

How should I prepare for interview?

Please prepare according to the type of interview you are shortlisted for. Our interviews are competency based and operate on the principal that past behaviour is a good indicator of future performance. In order to answer the questions fully you should use the S.T.A.R method. This means you should think about your example in terms the Situation, your Task, the Action you took and the Result.

Can I receive feedback on why I may not have been successful?

If you have been called for interview, you may request feedback. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot provide feedback if you have not been shortlisted.

How will I know where the role is situated in the organisation?

When will I start if I am successful at interview?

We would like you to start as soon as possible after the contract has been signed and conditions met. However, we realise that some people have longer notice periods and we will work with you to come to a suitable arrangement.

What are the working hours?

Our office hours are nine to half five, Monday to Friday. From time-to-time, during busy periods, there may be a requirement to vary the starting/ finishing time.

Do you offer blended/hybrid working arrangements?

Yes subject to the role requirements, we offer 3 days working from home with the option to work more in the office if you prefer.

I don’t live in Ireland, will this be a problem?

If you have the right to live and work in Ireland your application will be considered.

How will I know who is on the interview panel?

If you are shortlisted, we shall send you details of the interview panel. If we overlook this please get in touch and we will clarify.

Does ComReg use agencies for recruitment?

Yes, we use agency partners on a panel appointed following a tendering process to assist with recruitment of some specific contracts and other roles.
