If you see an unexpected call or text charge on your bill that you are unsure about, it may be a Premium Rate Service (PRS). PRS means paying for goods and services with your mobile credit or through your phone bill, using your landline, mobile phone, the Internet or interactive digital TV.
ComReg’s PRS Checker
If you get a text message from a five-digit number, for example 57XXX, visit our Service Checker tool. You can check the details of the number or any Premium Rate Service.
Unsubscribing or blocking PRS
You can unsubscribe from a premium rate service by texting the word STOP to the five-digit number. You should be unsubscribed within 24 to 48 hours.
You can block premium rate text messages if you are a customer of eir Mobile, Three or Vodafone. Contact your mobile service provider’s Customer Care team to set it up.
