Phishing Warning: Latest email scam

ComReg has become aware of fraudulent emails purporting to come from An Post, with the subject line “Last Reminder: “Your package could not be delivered on [specified date] because no customs duty was paid (€1.00)”” and a ComReg.ie email address (consumerline@comreg.ie).  The email contains an An Post logo in the body of the email.

Some of these seek personal information from consumer and/or seek credit card, debit card or bank account details in connection with an undelivered package.

These emails did not issue from ComReg (consumerline@comreg.ie).  ComReg would never ask for personal financial details in such a manner.

Anyone who receives an email purporting to be from ComReg and suspects it to be fraudulent or a scam should simply delete it. Anyone who is actually awaiting a response from ComReg customer care should contact ComReg via (consumerline@comreg.ie) to check its status.

Anyone who provided personal information in response to these fraudulent emails should contact their bank or credit card company immediately.
