Sales bans are placed on non-compliant products which carry a risk to the End User. If a product is subject to a ban, then it is unlawful for that product to be sold. The product will have a safeguard number, indicating that the Market Surveillance Authority has initiated a safeguard procedure. A safeguard procedure requires EU countries to communicate any restrictive measures they take against the free circulation of a product because it presents a risk, or it does not comply with EU rule.
