The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) today published the Information Memorandum for the 3.6 GHz Band Spectrum Award (ComReg 16/71) and the Response to Consultation (16/70).
The Information Memorandum sets out the processes and procedures for the award process, including the key milestones for its initial stages. This process will lead to the award of future spectrum rights of use in the 3.6 GHz Band by means of an auction.
When it is made available the 3.6 GHz Band has the potential to help meet the communications sector’s increasing demands for radio spectrum, to support the availability of broadband for users across the State.
The spectrum is expected to be awarded by the end of Q2 2017.
