ComReg Consumer News Q3 2021

During the third quarter of 2021 (July to September) the consumer news included the following:

 

Recent updates to consumer advice and information, we reminded consumers to be vigilant and to be wary of returning calls to any unknown numbers or giving out personal or financial information. We warned consumers about scam calls where the callers are using official Garda numbers. Finally, ComReg informed consumers who were having issues with Virgin Media customer service, where to make a complaint.

 

Our compliance work resulted in Tesco Mobile refunding 12,773 customers who had unintentionally re-activated their offer prior to the 28-day expiration period. Criminal convictions were imposed on  GoMo and GoMo paid €5,000 in fines for customers experiencing difficulties in porting their mobile number to GoMo.  In addition, Vodafone had to pay €10,000 in prosecution costs and donate €10,000 to charity for failing to deal with consumer complaints.

 

ComReg’s consumer tools and resources highlighted ComReg’s Outdoor Mobile Coverage Map, where consumers can view outdoor mobile coverage for 10 Mobile Service Providers in Ireland. The map was last updated on 30 September 2021.

 

In respect of research and reports the consumer news highlighted the Q2 Consumer Line Statistics for 2021.

 

And finally, ComReg published a call for inputs on  its approach to postal regulation.
