Many but not all service providers include automatic annual price increases in new contracts. Price increases can be calculated in different ways:
- using inflation metrics such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI);
- a fixed percentage;
- both CPI and a fixed percentage; or
- a set monthly amount.
These built-in price increases usually occur in April each year. ComReg Compare can assist you in finding broadband and phone plans that don’t have these increases, and also provides details of the increases where they apply.
It is important to anticipate any annual price increases for phone and broadband services you plan to subscribe to.

How do I find a cheaper deal?
If you are looking to switch or enter a new contract, be aware that some service providers have not implemented built-in contractual price increases, so it’s worth shopping around.
