The Freedom of Information Act 2014 (FOI Act) establishes a number of important legal rights for those seeking access to official information.
Statutory rights under the FOI Act:
The FOI Act is designed to allow public access to information held by the Commission which is NOT routinely available through other sources. Access to information under FOI is subject to certain exemptions and involves specific procedures and time limits

Applications should be in writing and should indicate that the information is sought under Freedom of Information legislation. An application form “Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act” is available but you are not required to use the form.
