Recruitment Q&As
We anticipated some of your questions and put them in the Q&A section below. If you cannot find the answer to a question you have, please email us at careers@ComReg.ie, don’t forget to put ‘Recruitment query’ in the subject line.
We advertise on a number of platforms and all of our roles can be found on the ComReg website under the ‘Careers’ section. You will find the job description, details of how to apply and all relevant logistics.
If you are interested in one of our roles and have the skills and experience necessary, please follow the instructions on how to apply on the relevant roles page.
If you have the skills and experience necessary for a number of roles we would welcome multiple applications.
Please bear in mind that each vacancy requires a separate application.
You will receive an automated response confirming receipt of your application.
After the position closes, applications will be reviewed against the criteria for the role and a shortlist will be compiled. If you are on the shortlist, you will be invited to interview. If not, we will let you know. If you are not shortlisted please don’t lose heart, there may be other ComReg roles in the future which better suit your qualifications, skills and experience so keep an eye on our careers page.
Sometimes our processes can take a little longer than usual so please bear with us.
Our interviews take place virtually and face to face in our ComReg offices located at One Dockland Central, Guild St, Dublin 1. If interviews are scheduled at any other location, we will let you know in advance of your interview.
If you have additional needs and are invited for interview, please email EDI@ComReg.ie to let us know.
It depends on the role. For many of our roles, we call the top scoring candidates to second round interview.
In some cases, our interviews include presentations or tasks to examine drafting expertise. You will be notified of dates and requirements well in advance of any interviews and kept informed throughout the process.
You can find the salary on the bottom of the job specification.
Interviews are largely competency based. View our competency framework. This framework was put together following consultation with employees and contains common behaviours required by those working in ComReg. You should look at the competencies set out on the vacancy notice and examine the behaviours associated with those competencies in the framework. We will be looking for demonstrations of some of these behaviours at interview.
Our interviews are competency based and operate on the principal that past behaviour is a good indicator of future performance. In order to answer the questions fully, you should use the S.T.A.R. method. This means you should think about your example in terms the Situation, your Task, the Action you took and the Result.
If you have been called for interview, you may request feedback. Unfortunately, due to the volume of CV's we receive, we cannot provide feedback if you have not been shortlisted.
Please see the About Us section of the website. There you will find details of our structure and divisions.
We would like you to start as soon as possible after the contract has been signed and conditions met. However, we realise that some people have longer notice periods and we will work with you to come to a suitable arrangement.
In general, feedback from our current employees and our alumni is very positive. We like to think our organisation is a great place to work. For further detail, please see our ComReg Experience section for a more detailed look into what those working at ComReg say about their experience.
We have excellent development opportunities to enhance your personal and professional skills and equip you to compete for the next step in your career. It is important that you take control of your career by establishing your career plan and setting out what steps you need to take to equip you for success.
Our office hours are nine to half five, Monday to Friday. From time-to-time, during busy periods, there may be a requirement to vary the starting or finishing time.
If you have the right to live and work in Ireland your application will be considered.
If you are shortlisted, we shall send you details of the interview panel. If we overlook this please get in touch and we will clarify.
Competency Wheel
The ComReg Competency Wheel summarises the Competency Framework. In order to ensure consistency across the recruitment process, all competencies used during recruitment and selection at ComReg can now be derived from the Framework, which includes the following components;
A Competency describes the critical knowledge, skills, abilities that individuals are expected to demonstrate.
A Competency Framework can be described as the library that holds and organises the descriptions of behaviours applicable at all levels for all roles.
Why have a Competency Framework?
Common Understanding – Recruitment process is based on identified competencies and required behaviours
Efficiency and Focus – Definition of required behaviours does not need to be re-visited for each vacancy
Transparency – Can define exactly what behaviours are required
Organisational Identity – written in organisational language and iterate the kind of behaviours we value as an organisation and which are required to help us meet our goals
Create foundation – for future initiatives such as building career paths, structuring performance management, designing personal development plans, and required behaviours helping to make it more efficient and focused.
