The Common Charger Directive (“CCD”) will enable Europeans to power their devices with a single charger. This means chargers will be unbundled from the sale of electronic devices, thus reducing e-waste.
Common Charger rules are EU-wide and will come into effect on 28 December 2024. The Common Charger applies to all new handheld electronic devices*.
USB-C will be the common port, regardless of the brand. This harmonised approach, utilising fast-charging technology, allows all devices to be charged.
The below pictogram must be on packaging of all relevant products, and will indicate if the product comes with a charger.
